Creating of characters
I originally created the characters as 2 squabbling brothers as an interactive bedtime story for my children. After getting bored with the usual Mr Men, the Hungry Caterpillar books and other stories of the time which were easy to remember from one reading to another, the Barry & George stories aimed to develop more complex adventures and make the children think about how the brothers could challenge each other.
Posted on 24/06/2022It became really fun asking the children for ideas for what the brothers could do, and how they sort them out. From these first ideas, and draft stories, Ellen joined the project to bring the characters to life in drawings and speech.
The characters you see on our website and in our videos are all her work, and perfectly capture Barry’s and George’s personalities.
It’s great fun making these 2 brothers go on adventures and, perhaps with your help, who knows where they might end up next!
